Stars Celebrate Agaram Foundation’s 15 Years of Impact

Tamil Cinema’s Leading Lights Gather for Milestone Event

The esteemed Agaram Foundation marked its 15th anniversary, bringing together prominent figures from the Tamil film industry to celebrate a decade and a half of empowering underprivileged students. The event highlighted the foundation’s commitment to education and its significant reach.

A Family Affair for a Noble Cause

Actor Suriya, along with his brother Karthi and father Sivakumar, were present at the celebration. Karthi expressed his joy, stating, “This is a lot of pleasure to me.” He emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of giving, noting, “This indicates that the habit of raising a hand to others is to follow the next generation.”

Foundation’s Vision and Achievements

Karthi lauded the integral role of Jyothika in the foundation’s operations. He recalled Suriya‘s sentiment about nurturing these children, drawing a parallel between their financial support and astrological insights, suggesting that guidance goes beyond monetary assistance. Karthi acknowledged that the foundation’s progress would not have been possible without their collective support.

While the Agaram Foundation primarily focuses on supporting Tamil students’ education, Jyothika took a leading role in assisting hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic, showcasing a broader commitment to community welfare.

From Humble Beginnings to Significant Growth

The foundation, which began by supporting 160 students, has expanded its reach over six years. The anniversary celebration was graced by chief guest Kamal Haasan. Established on September 25, 2006, under Suriya‘s leadership, the Agaram Foundation has been instrumental in providing educational opportunities to economically disadvantaged students.

Since its inception, the Agaram Foundation has supported thousands of students. For example, in the academic year 2023-24, it provided scholarships to over 5,000 students across Tamil Nadu, demonstrating a significant scale of impact (Agaram Foundation Impact Report).
