Apple Restructures Health and Fitness Teams, Eyes New Subscription Service
CUPERTINO, Calif. - Oct. 11, 2025 – Apple is reorganizing its health and fitness divisions, consolidating efforts under the leadership of Senior vice Presidents Jeff Williams and Craig Federighi, according to a report by Bloomberg. The move comes as Apple prepares to launch a new subscription service, dubbed Health+, focused on personalized health and wellness recommendations.
The restructuring will see Federighi, currently Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, and Williams, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, jointly oversee the combined divisions. Both executives have long tenures at Apple and have played key roles in the growth of the company’s major products.
Apple intends for Health+ to deliver personalized guidance on nutrition, exercise, and sleep, leveraging an artificial intelligence-powered assistant. This initiative builds on Apple’s existing health initiatives, including the Apple Watch and its health-tracking capabilities.
The changes follow the proclamation in July that Williams will retire later this year. He will transition his role as COO to Apple Senior Vice President of Operations Sabih Khan, while continuing to report to CEO Tim Cook and oversee the company’s design team, Apple Watch, and health initiatives before his full retirement. Cook stated in July that Williams “helped to create one of the most respected global supply chains in the world; launched the Apple Watch and overseen its development; architected Apple’s health strategy; and led our world-class team of designers with great wisdom, heart and dedication.”
Apple has been increasingly focused on the health sector, previously reporting on the development of an AI agent capable of dispensing health advice. Though, recent earnings reports indicate a 9% decline in revenue for the wearables, home and accessories category – which includes the Apple Watch – to $7.4 billion in the third quarter, while services revenue increased 13% to $27.4 billion.
