AppleS New AirPods Pro 3 Blend Real-Time Translation with Advanced Health Tracking
CUPERTINO, CA – September 12, 2024 - Apple today unveiled the AirPods Pro 3, a notable leap forward for the popular wireless earbuds, integrating real-time translation capabilities and advanced biometric sensors for comprehensive health and fitness monitoring. Launching september 19th with a price tag of $249, the new AirPods Pro 3, alongside updated AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4, represent Apple’s push to expand the functionality of its audio devices beyond entertainment.
The headline feature is real-time translation, powered by AI and utilizing the iPhone’s Translate app. The airpods capture audio, transmit it to the iPhone for processing, and deliver the translation almost instantaneously in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and German. While specialists note a slight delay and occasional errors – common in current translation technology - the system offers a valuable communication tool. Translations are delivered using the standard Siri voice, and for clarity, the iPhone simultaneously displays a transcription of both languages on screen.Importantly, the translation function operates offline with pre-downloaded language packs. Apple plans to expand language support later this year to include Mandarin,Japanese,Korean, and Italian.
Beyond communication, the AirPods Pro 3 introduce a suite of health-focused features. Integrated infrared light sensors now enable real-time heart rate monitoring. Each earbud records the user’s pulse and seamlessly syncs the data with the Fitness app, providing metrics like heart rate and calories burned during physical activity. This functionality, enabled by iOS 26, effectively transforms the AirPods into a wearable health device, complementing – but not replacing – the Apple Watch. Users can even combine data from both devices for a more holistic view of their fitness performance.
Apple has also focused on improving the core audio experience. The AirPods Pro 3 boast optimized noise cancellation through a “multiport acoustic architecture” and include five different sizes and materials of silicone and foam ear tips for a more comfortable and secure fit. Battery life has been extended to eight hours of playback with active noise cancellation, a two-hour improvement over the previous generation. However, the new charging case offers a slightly reduced total listening capacity of 24 hours, compared to the AirPods Pro 2’s 30 hours.
the AirPods Pro 3 feature enhanced water and sweat resistance, catering specifically to users who incorporate music into their workouts. This combination of features positions Apple’s latest earbuds as a versatile tool for both global communication and personal wellness.
