Amritsar Temple Attack Suspect Arrested in Bihar

Bihar Police Arrest Man Wanted in Amritsar Temple Grenade Attack

Gaya, Bihar – A 35-year-old man was⁤ arrested Friday evening ‌in connection ⁣with a grenade attack against a temple in Amritsar. the arrest, a joint effort by the National Inquiry Agency⁢ (NIA)‌ and local police, took place near the Sherghati ​Police station ⁤on NH 19.

The attack occurred on⁤ March 15 in the Khandwala region on Sher Shah Suri ​Road. While no one was injured,⁣ the explosion damaged the walls and shattered windows of the temple, ‍causing panic in the area.

The suspect, identified as Sharanjit Kumar, a resident of Bhaini‌ Bangar, Batala, Gurdaspur, was allegedly actively involved in the⁢ conspiracy​ and execution of terror attacks in early March, according to the NIA. Investigators beleive the attack was carried out by individuals identified as⁤ gordac Singh and Vishal JEL, operating under the direction of foreign ​handlers.

The NIA’s investigation​ revealed the conspiracy was hatched through communication ⁤originating⁤ in Europe, ⁣the United States, and Canada, with support networks providing funding, logistics, and connections within india.Kumar allegedly‌ received four hand grenades from another suspect arrested in Gardepor Batala on March 1.Another suspect, Gursidak Singh, nicknamed “Sidak,” died on March​ 17 following a firefight with police in a village near Sri Guru ‍Ram International Airport.

“Sharanjit fled from Batala.He was finaly tracked to Gaya and was living as a truck driver after a sustained ‍investigation based on human and technical intelligence,” officials stated.

Following his arrest, Kumar was produced in a sherghati court and transported ​to Chandigarh by the NIA‍ team on Saturday, according to police superintendent Shilndra Singh. The⁢ case is registered under relevant sections of the Criminal Law (Amendment), Explosive Substances Act, and other applicable⁢ laws.
