Allison Mack, Former ‘Smallville’ Star, Details NXIVM Involvement adn Life After Prison in New Podcast
Allison Mack, the actress best known for her role on the television series “Smallville,” is speaking publicly for the first time about her involvement in the NXIVM cult and her experiences since being released from prison. In a new podcast series,”Allison After NXIVM,” an installment of CBC’s “Uncover,” Mack addresses her role in the organization and its secretive subgroup DOS,where women were branded wiht the initials of NXIVM leader keith Raniere and subjected to coercive control and sexual abuse.
Mack, who was considered a “master” within DOS, tasked with recruiting and controlling other women, was sentenced to three years in federal prison in 2021 and released in 2023. She acknowledges the truth of the allegations against her,stating,”100% all those allegations are true,” but also asserts she acted with a desire for personal and collective growth. “Both of those things are true about me,” she says in the podcast.
“I definitely recognize and admit that I was abusing my power,” Mack admits. “But I also can’t negate the fact that there was a part of me that was altruistic and was desperate to help people. [I] wanted to be better, and I was willing to do anything to be better in myself and to help other people be better.”
As her release, Mack has been pursuing a master’s degree in social work and exploring PhD programs in expressive arts therapy. She is currently working at a nonprofit bringing creative arts programs to prisons. she recently married Frank Meeink, a former neo-Nazi who now advocates for racial diversity and acceptance, after meeting him at a dog park in 2023 and now goes by Allison Meeink.
The podcast originated after Mack reached out to journalist Vanessa Grigoriadis, who had previously interviewed Mack before her arrest, hoping to share her story. Grigoriadis serves as an executive producer on the series.
The NXIVM case has garnered significant media attention, previously explored in the HBO documentary series “The Vow” and the Starz series “Seduced: Inside the NXIVM Cult.” Raniere is currently serving a 120-year sentence after being convicted of sex-trafficking and other charges.
