Alfa Romeo Junior Hybrid Q4 Intensa: New Compact SUV Blends efficiency with All-Wheel Drive Capability

PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC – Alfa Romeo has launched its new junior compact SUV, available with a hybrid powertrain and optional all-wheel drive (AWD). Teh tested Intensa trim, priced from 949,000 CZK, features a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder mild-hybrid engine producing a combined 107 kW (145 hp) and 230 + 55 + 88 Nm of torque.

The Junior utilizes a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission integrated with a front electric motor. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is achieved in 9.1 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h. Fuel consumption is rated between 5.2 – 5.4 l/100 km, resulting in CO2 emissions of 119 – 121 g/km.

The AWD version incorporates a second electric motor at the rear axle, primarily noticeable during startup. Unlike its predecessor, the Junior Q4 features a multi-element rear suspension, improving comfort and handling on various surfaces.

Dimensions are 4173 mm (length) / 1781 mm (width) / 1544 mm (height) with a wheelbase of 2557 mm. Luggage capacity is 340 liters (1205 liters with rear seats folded).

The Intensa trim includes standard features such as one-zone automatic air conditioning,a 10.25-inch navigation screen, digital instrument cluster, power seats with massage function, heated front seats and steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, smartphone integration, front/side/rear parking sensors, keyless entry/start, electric tailgate, automatic wipers, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

While not a dedicated sports car,the Junior offers a cozy driving experience. Real-world fuel consumption typically falls between 6.0 – 6.5 l/100 km, aided by the hybrid system. The AWD variant adds approximately 70,000 CZK to the base price (879,000 CZK for the front-wheel drive Intensa),and is most beneficial for drivers frequently encountering challenging road conditions.
