Apple today announced the iPhone 17e, a recent addition to its iPhone 17 lineup, priced at $599 and featuring 256GB of storage – double the entry-level capacity of the previous generation. The device, unveiled in a press release Monday, incorporates Apple’s A19 chip and MagSafe technology.
The iPhone 17e boasts the A19 chip, built with advanced 3-nanometer technology, promising performance improvements for tasks ranging from photo scrolling to advanced features powered by Apple Intelligence. Apple claims the 6-core CPU is up to two times faster than that found in the iPhone 11. The device also includes the C1X cellular modem, designed by Apple, which offers speeds up to twice as fast as the C1 modem in the iPhone 16e, matching the speed of the iPhone Air.
The iPhone 17e features a 48MP Fusion camera, enabling an optical-quality 2x Telephoto lens, and is capable of recording 4K Dolby Vision video at up to 60 frames per second. The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display incorporates Ceramic Shield 2, offering three times better scratch resistance compared to the previous generation, and reduced glare.
Available in black, white, and a new soft pink finish, the iPhone 17e will be available for pre-order beginning Wednesday, March 4, with availability starting Wednesday, March 11. The device supports MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging, and includes safety features such as Emergency SOS via satellite, Roadside Assistance via satellite, and Crash Detection.
“iPhone 17e combines powerful performance and features our users love at an exceptional value, making it a compelling option for customers looking to upgrade to the iPhone 17 family,” said Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing. “We know our customers want a product that will last, and iPhone 17e delivers just that.
