The second season of the Australian black comedy crime mystery series Deadloch will premiere globally on Amazon Prime Video on March 20, the streaming service announced today.
The first season, which debuted in June 2023, quickly gained a global following, reaching the top 10 TV shows on Prime Video in over 165 countries. It garnered critical acclaim, winning five AACTA awards (the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards) and receiving an International Emmy nomination. The series is known for its darkly humorous tone and intricate murder mystery plot.
Season two marks a significant shift in location for the series, moving from the Tasmanian coastline to Darwin, in Australia’s Northern Territory, also known as the Top End. Detectives Dulcie Collins, played by Kate Box, and Eddie Redcliffe, played by Madeleine Sami, will investigate the death of Eddie’s former policing partner, Bushy. The investigation will unfold against the backdrop of the region’s unique environment, including crocodile-filled waters and a complex local community.
Returning alongside Box and Sami are Nina Oyama and Alicia Gardiner. The new season will also feature a large ensemble cast including Luke Hemsworth, Steve Bisley, Shari Sebbens, Genevieve Morris, Byron Coll, Nikki Britton, Anthony J Sharpe, Blake Pavey, Damien Garvey, Ngali Shaw, Bev Killick, Ling Cooper-Tang, Ursula Yovich, Syd Brisbane, Ines English, Lennox Monaghan, Reiden Corpus, Storm Murgha and Jean Tong, making his acting debut.
Deadloch was created and written by Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan, who also serve as executive producers. Kevin Whyte, Tanya Phegan and Ben Grogan from Guesswork Television are also executive producers. Andy Walker is the producer, and Beck Cole and Gracie Otto are directing the series. The series is a production of Guesswork Television, OK Great Productions and Amazon MGM Studios.
The second season will launch with the first two episodes available on March 20, with subsequent episodes released weekly, culminating in the season finale on April 17.
