Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a meeting in Munich, Germany, on February 13, 2026, as both attended the Munich Security Conference (MSC). The meeting focused on potential avenues for ending the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with Sybiha expressing hope that China could play a more active role in achieving peace, according to reports from Yonhap News Agency and Newsis.

Sybiha reportedly invited Wang Yi to visit Ukraine, stating that China could be instrumental in bringing about a “just peace.” He also extended an invitation to Wang to visit Ukraine, having received a reciprocal invitation to China from the Chinese Foreign Minister, Newsis reported. Sybiha emphasized the importance of China’s support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, expressing gratitude for what he described as a “very substantial and practical” dialogue.

During the meeting, Sybiha underscored Ukraine’s interest in a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Chinese President Xi Jinping, reiterating this point to Wang Yi. He told Ukrainian media after the meeting that China has the potential to bring a fair peace to Ukraine, according to Yonhap News Agency.

The Chinese side announced that Wang Yi conveyed China’s willingness to provide further humanitarian aid to Ukraine. However, the Chinese statement, as reported by both Yonhap and Newsis, did not include any specific mention of the reciprocal invitations to visit each other’s countries. Wang Yi stated that “it is encouraging that various dialogues are taking place around the Ukraine crisis,” and affirmed China’s commitment to maintaining communication with Ukraine and playing a constructive role in seeking a political solution in collaboration with the international community.

Sybiha also stated that Ukraine values its relationship with China, noting that China is Ukraine’s largest trading partner and that significant cooperation potential exists between the two countries, according to Newsis. He described the discussions as “meaningful and productive.”

According to a report from Asia Today, Wang Yi expressed hope for a peace agreement in Ukraine. The report does not detail any specific proposals or timelines discussed during the meeting.
