Ja Morant Injury: Grizzlies Updates & Depth Concerns

Ja Morant to Miss Grizzlies-Spurs Game, ‌Remains ⁤Out for Re-Evaluation

SAN⁤ ANTONIO,‍ TX – December 2, 2025 – Memphis Grizzlies‍ star Ja Morant ‍will not play tonight against the San⁣ Antonio Spurs at Frost Bank Center, ⁢continuing his absence due to a right shoulder sprain. ‍The team has not provided an update since initially announcing⁣ Morant would be‍ re-evaluated in two⁤ weeks on November 20th.

Morant sustained the injury during a November 15th game against the Sacramento Kings, ⁣further depleting the ‌Grizzlies’ already thin ⁣point guard rotation. the team⁢ is currently without Scotty Pippen‌ Jr. ⁢(toe),Ty Jerome⁣ (calf),and ‌Javon Small (toe) alongside Morant,forcing Vince Williams Jr. and Cam ⁣Spencer ‌into expanded playmaking roles. Memphis recently signed kobe Bufkin to a 10-day contract on​ November 24th to bolster guard depth.

Thru 12 games‍ this season,Morant is averaging 17.9 points and 7.6 assists.‌ The Grizzlies’ record reflects his absence, standing at 4-8 when he plays and 5-4 in games he’s missed. Williams Jr.​ has stepped up in Morant’s place, averaging 9.6 points and 8.7 assists‌ in seven⁤ starts, including‍ multiple games with 15 or⁣ more assists.

The Grizzlies ⁢will continue to navigate thier challenging injury situation ‍as they await further information on Morant’s recovery ​and ⁣potential return timeline.
