Maduro Regime Announces Examination amidst US Pressure on Venezuelan Airspace
As the Trump management increases pressure on Venezuela, including warnings regarding its airspace, the Maduro regime has announced it will launch an investigation into recent incidents involving boats in the Caribbean Sea. National Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez stated the regime’s Prosecutor’s Office will be activated to “support” families of Venezuelans killed in operations conducted by the United States against vessels suspected of drug trafficking.
Rodríguez indicated the regime will convene to develop strategies to aid these families, characterizing the operations as alleged “extrajudicial executions.” He also claimed that international media attention to these incidents is selective, only occurring when reported by outlets like CNN and The Washington Post. Notably,Rodríguez did not disclose the number of complaints the regime itself has received regarding disappearances and political prisoners.
The announcement follows a direct response from Rodríguez to Trump’s warnings about Venezuelan airspace, with accusations leveled against opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner María Corina Machado, alleging her support for US government actions. Rodríguez stated, “All those people who are sleeping at the Barajas airport should remember that it was María Corina Machado who requested that these types of actions take place.”
This move by the maduro regime coincides with heightened US efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region, including the designation of the Cartel de los Soles as a terrorist organization.
recent reporting by The New York Times suggests a direct conversation between Maduro and trump took place in recent days, during which Trump reportedly warned of escalated military action if Maduro does not relinquish power. Afterward, the US Federal Aviation Administration issued a warning to airlines regarding a “potentially dangerous situation” for flights over Venezuelan airspace.
