Ahn Se-young Claims 10th International Title of Season with Australian Open Victory

SYDNEY, Australia – South korean badminton star Ahn Se-young has achieved a historic milestone, securing her 10th international singles title of the 2025 season with a win at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Super 500 Australian Open on November 23rd. This unprecedented feat marks the first time a women’s singles player has reached double-digit international victories in a single year.

Ahn se-young’s dominant performance throughout 2025 has included triumphs in three Super 1000 series – the Malaysia open, All England Open, and Indonesia Open – alongside six Super 750 series victories at the India Open, Japan Open, China Open, Denmark Open, French Open, and now the Australian Open. She also claimed victory at the Orleans Masters, a Super 300 tournament. Her success underscores a resurgence in Korean badminton and establishes her as a leading force in the sport.

the achievement has drawn praise from South Korean Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Choi Hwi-young, who congratulated Ahn Se-young on “reaching the top of the world” and highlighted the importance of winning 10 international competitions in one year as “a valuable achievement that has once again demonstrated the power of Korean badminton to the world.”

Ahn Se-young was recently recognized with a Presidential Citation at the 63rd Korea sports Awards Ceremony,though she was unable to attend due to her commitment to the Australian Open. Her continued success is expected to further elevate the profile of badminton in South Korea and inspire a new generation of athletes.
