Second Suspect Identified in Celeste Rivas Dismemberment Case, Report Says
Los Angeles County authorities are focusing on a second suspect in connection with the death of 15-year-old celeste Rivas, whose dismembered remains were discovered in Los Angeles on September 8, according to reports from multiple news outlets. While the initial focus was on musician D4vd,20,the new suspect is believed to have assisted in the dismemberment of Rivas’ remains, but is not currently believed to have directly caused her death.
Rivas was last seen by her family in the spring of 2024 after multiple attempts to run away from her home in Lake Elsinore, approximately 75 miles southeast of where her remains were found. the investigation gained momentum through a combination of cellphone data,Tesla data, and location information from social media, leading law enforcement to identify the new person of interest. Attorneys representing parties connected to the case have been informed that police are investigating someone linked to the last known movements of a vehicle involved in the case.
Attorneys Mark Geragos and John Levin revealed they were informed of a trip D4vd took “to a very remote area of Santa Barbara County,in the middle of the night,” believing “that Santa Barbara trip is the key to this case,” according to reporting by the New York Daily news. Geragos stated he has received the name of the individual police are investigating regarding events before, during, and after Rivas’ death, but has not yet publicly disclosed it.
Police sources have confirmed to People magazine that D4vd has not cooperated with the investigation.Authorities are still working to determine Rivas’ exact time of death, but believe it occurred in the spring of 2025, “not before then.” The L.A. County Medical Examiner has not yet determined an official cause of death, but arrests and charges are anticipated once the cause is established, sources told ABC News.
The nature of the relationship between D4vd and Rivas remains unconfirmed, though individuals who knew the pair reportedly believed they were a couple. Rivas’ mother also identified her daughter’s boyfriend as “David” to TMZ.
