BP-AKR to Increase Fuel Purchases from pertamina as Other Stations Negotiate
Jakarta - PT Aneka Petroindo Raya (APR), the operator of BP-AKR gas stations, is expected to receive an additional fuel shipment from Pertamina Patra Niaga, bringing the total to three cargoes. This move signals a continued shift towards sourcing base fuel from the state-owned energy company.
according to Laode Sulaeman, Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, BP-AKR recently ordered two 100,000-barrel shipments and is considering a third.”Like yesterday, BP AKR ordered 100 thousand barrels twice, two cargoes, and we heard there would be a third cargo. Yes, we’ll confirm that later,” Sulaeman stated on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. The procurement process for the initial 100,000-barrel purchase is anticipated to occur in the third week of November.
While BP-AKR’s purchases are progressing, negotiations are ongoing with other fuel retailers. Shell and VIVO are currently in discussions with Pertamina Patra Niaga to secure fuel supplies, though Sulaeman noted he was unaware of specific obstacles hindering those talks. “If you want to ask about obstacles, it is more appropriate for those in B2B, we don’t know because some have succeeded and some are still being discussed,” he explained. “If those are prosperous, that means they have proven that there are no obstacles. If not, ask those who haven’t, why.”
the increased demand from BP-AKR comes amid a broader context of fuel supply dynamics in Indonesia, were private operators are increasingly looking to pertamina as a key supplier of base fuel.
