PhD Student Admits to Drug-Fueled Sexual Assaults and Photos

A University of Southern California PhD student has confessed to drugging ⁢and ‍sexually assaulting three women,authorities announced Wednesday. Zhen Weng, 30, faces multiple felony charges following a police examination that uncovered disturbing evidence at his residence, ⁢including explicit photographs, leather restraints, and syringes.

the case ⁣raises serious concerns about⁢ campus safety and the vulnerability of students, prompting USC to immediately bar⁢ Weng from campus and pledge full ⁣cooperation with law enforcement. If convicted,Weng could receive a life sentence. The assaults allegedly occurred between⁢ 2021 and 2023, and⁢ the investigation began after one victim came forward, leading to the identification of two additional survivors.

Los Angeles Police Department detectives executed a search warrant at Weng’s home, discovering a cache‍ of ‌items indicative of premeditation and control. According​ to the Los Angeles County ⁣District ⁢Attorney’s Office, Weng used substances to⁤ incapacitate the women before sexually​ assaulting them.
