Norwegian Women’s National Team to Skip November Match, Eyes 2026 return
Oslo, Norway - October 28, 2025 - The Norwegian women’s national football team will not play a match on home soil in November, with the next possibility for fans to see the team in action slated for 2026. This decision comes as the team prepares for a national team meeting in Marbella, Spain.
The last time the Norwegian public had the chance to support the team was in June against Sweden. While club side Brann has already sold over 6,000 tickets for their upcoming match against Rosenborg, and young girls continue training despite the darkening autumn evenings, the national team will be based in Spain.
This decision has drawn criticism, with some questioning the Norwegian Football Association’s prioritization of travel expenses over domestic matches. Concerns have been raised regarding the growth of special associations into large, expensive entities and a potential willingness to spend on travel at the expense of core objectives.
Norwegian special associations were originally intended to function as secretariats for activities outside the country, primarily arranging international matches.
Looking ahead, the Final 4 play-offs for the handball championship are scheduled to take place in Cologne, Germany, on the second weekend of June next year.
