Bethune-Cookman University Launches B-CU Global, Expanding Online Degree ⁤options

DAYTONA BEACH, ⁤FL ⁣- ‌Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) is substantially expanding access to higher education with the launch of B-CU ‌Global, a new‌ online platform offering five undergraduate and seven graduate degree programs.‌ The ⁢initiative aims to reach a broader student population, including those ⁢who may not ⁢be ⁤able to attend traditional on-campus⁣ classes, and will even offer credit for prior life experience.

The undergraduate programs ⁢available through B-CU Global include psychology, criminal justice, business ⁢administration, interdisciplinary studies, and national security and ‍global affairs. Graduate offerings encompass nursing education, Christian ministry, business administration, organizational ⁣leadership, exceptional ‍student education, integrated environmental science, and counseling.

According ‍to ⁢the B-CU website, additional online degrees are currently in progress, including a Master of Arts in Teaching, a Master⁤ of Education, and an Educator preparation Institute.

“this version ‍of B-CU⁢ Global is about identifying a ⁢different population of students,” said Vernell Bennett, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Bethune-Cookman University.

B-CU previously operated an online program ⁢but discontinued it due to enrollment conflicts‍ with on-campus students. Bennett⁢ emphasized the ‍university’s‌ commitment to a ‌holistic ⁤student experience, stating, “of course, we don’t want individuals ⁣who are on campus to be focused solely online. We want them to be able to engage and ⁤take advantage ‌of the wonderful things ⁢that are going on on the campus.”

To⁤ further broaden access, B-CU Global will⁣ offer credit for life experience, recognizing certifications ‌and ‍coursework completed through programs like those often pursued by veterans. All B-CU faculty are trained to teach online and will⁤ be⁣ assigned to both online and in-person courses.
