NEWARK, Del. – The University of delaware women’s cross country team continues to climb the ranks, maintaining its No. 14 position in the latest NCAA division I Mid-Atlantic Region poll released Monday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The ranking reflects assessments from one coach in each region, considering both returning team strength and current season performance. This marks the third time this season the Fightin’ Blue Hens have appeared in the regional poll, holding steady from the previous week’s ranking. Delaware is coming off a strong fifth-place finish at the ECAC Championships last friday in the Bronx, where marie-Theres Gruber led the team with a third-place individual finish, clocking in at 20:28.10.
The regional ranking is a key indicator of potential qualification for the NCAA Championships. The top teams in each region will advance to the NCAA Championships, making these polls crucial for at-large bid considerations.
Delaware will next compete at the Conference USA Championships in huntsville, Alabama, on saturday, November 1.
