Nvidia’s DGX spark,a ‘personal AI Supercomputer,’ Begins Sales October 15th
Nvidia’s highly anticipated DGX Spark,a compact AI supercomputer designed for individual researchers and developers, will be available for purchase starting October 15th.The system, initially announced earlier this year, aims to bring data center-level AI performance to desktops, potentially democratizing access to advanced AI capabilities.
The DGX Spark represents a notable shift, offering a petaflop of AI performance – equivalent to a million billion calculations per second – in a device small enough to fit on a desk and powered by a standard outlet. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang previously stated the goal is “placing an AI supercomputer on the desks of every data scientist, AI researcher and student empowers them to engage and shape the age of AI.”
originally slated to cost $3,000, the DGX Spark will now retail for $3,999 directly from nvidia.com and through select partners and stores in the US. Several PC manufacturers are also offering customized versions, including the Acer Veriton GN100, also priced at $3,999.
The Spark is equipped with Nvidia’s GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip,128GB of unified memory, and up to 4TB of NVMe SSD storage, capable of handling AI models with up to 200 billion parameters. Nvidia has encouraged third-party manufacturers to create their own versions, with Asus, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, lenovo, and MSI all debuting customized models.
The launch follows an earlier announcement this year where the system was referred to as “Digits.” A correction has been issued clarifying the sales date; previous reports indicated immediate availability.
