Palermo, Italy – October 14, 2024 – Free health screenings are available today at the La Torre shopping center in via Assoro, as the ASP of Palermo continues its mobile prevention campaign. From 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM, residents can access a range of vital tests and services, all at no cost.
The initiative, a collaboration between the ASP of Palermo, the first district of the Lions District 108 Yb Sicily, and the La Torre shopping center management, aims to raise awareness about the importance of early diagnosis and preventative care.
Services offered include visual and speech therapy screenings for children aged 3-8, mammography for women aged 50-69, Pap tests and HPV tests for women aged 25-64, and distribution of the sof test for colorectal cancer screening (for individuals aged 50-69). Cardiovascular assessments, including ECGs and potential ultrasound examinations, are available for those aged 50-65 not currently under specialist care.
Additionally, screenings for sexually transmitted infectious diseases (hepatitis C, syphilis, and HIV), diabetes, audiometry, melanoma, and vaccinations will be provided. Administrative support for changing doctors, health card issuance, and income-based ticket exemptions will also be on-site, alongside information about local PNES clinics.
Veterinarians will be present offering free microchip implants and promoting stray animal prevention, highlighting the community-wide focus on health and well-being.
To access these free services, individuals simply need to present a health card and identification document. Following the La Torre stop, the ASP of Palermo’s mobile prevention unit will be in Partinico on October 16th, Blufi on October 28th, Misilmeri on October 30th, and Lascari on November 4th.
