Steve Witkoff Arrives in Sharm El-sheikh as International talks on gaza’s Future Begin
Paris/sharm El-Sheikh – As ceasefire negotiations continue in Egypt, international efforts to plan for the “day after” in Gaza are intensifying. Steve witkoff, the American emissary for the Middle East, arrived in Sharm El-Sheikh today to participate in upcoming discussions.
A key meeting of Foreign Ministers from European and Arab nations is scheduled for Thursday in Paris, aiming to solidify a collective commitment to stabilizing Gaza and establishing a framework for a future Palestinian State. French diplomatic sources stated the meeting will focus on “specifying the methods of a collective commitment” to “operationalize” post-conflict plans. Specific topics will include an international stabilization force, transitional governance of Gaza, humanitarian aid, reconstruction efforts, the disarmament of Hamas, support for the Palestinian Authority, and strengthening Palestinian security forces.
The ministers also intend to demonstrate their support for the United states, according to the sources. The goal is to “work together to operationalize, in close connection with the United States, the main parameters of the ‘day after,’ as well as to specify the methods of a collective commitment.”
Participants in the Thursday meeting will include representatives from France, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Indonesia, Canada, and Turkey. Several nations, including Indonesia, Canada, and Turkey, have expressed a desire to actively contribute to a stabilization mission in Gaza following a ceasefire.
The meeting follows a Wednesday discussion in Paris between French President Emmanuel Macron and Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, further signaling a coordinated international push for a resolution to the conflict and a plan for Gaza’s future.The Paris meeting is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. local time.
