Aldeguer Claims First MotoGP Victory in Dramatic Lombok Race, Marquez Involved in First-Lap Crash
Lombok, Indonesia – Fermin Aldeguer (Gresini Ducati) secured his maiden MotoGP victory at the Indonesian Grand Prix on Sunday, becoming the second-youngest winner in the series’ history. The 20-year-old Spaniard took the lead after an early battle with pedro acosta and controlled the race, marking a stunning debut win after a strong performance in the sprint race. Acosta finished second, with Aldeguer’s teammate, Alex Marquez, completing the podium.
aldeguer’s win is particularly noteworthy as he follows in the footsteps of Marc Marquez as one of the youngest riders to achieve a MotoGP victory. The race was marred by a significant incident on the first lap,involving reigning world champion Marc Marquez.
Sprint race winner Marco bezzecchi (Aprilia) collided with Marquez at over 200 km/h, resulting in the Spaniard sustaining a “small fracture” in his shoulder, according to Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi. A CT scan will determine if surgery is required.
Further compounding a arduous weekend, Francesco Bagnaia, fresh off a double victory in Motegi, Japan, struggled in Lombok, finishing last in the sprint race and facing a substantial points deficit.
