Former NFL Quarterback Mark Sanchez Recovering After Indianapolis Stabbing
Mark Sanchez, a Fox Sports NFL analyst and former NFL quarterback, is in stable condition after being stabbed in Indianapolis early Saturday morning, NFL Network reported.
“Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition,” Fox Sports said in a statement. “We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their extraordinary care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.”
Sanchez, 38, was in Indianapolis to prepare to call Sunday’s Raiders-Colts game at Lucas Oil Stadium.
EDITOR’S UPDATE: The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has as announced that Sanchez was arrested on three alleged misdemeanor charges related to the incident.
Sanchez played 10 seasons in the NFL after being selected by the New York Jets with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He led the Jets to consecutive AFC Championship Games in 2009 and 2010.
Following his time with the Jets, Sanchez played for the Philadelphia Eagles (2014-15), Denver Broncos (2016), Dallas Cowboys (2016), Chicago bears (2017), and Washington (2018) before retiring from professional football. He began his broadcasting career with Fox Sports in 2021.
