Tyrese gibson Surrenders to Authorities, Faces Charges in Dog Attack That Resulted in Neighbor’s Dog’s Death
Los Angeles, CA – Actor Tyrese Gibson has surrendered to authorities and is cooperating with an inquiry following a fatal dog attack involving his animals, confirmed by both law enforcement and his legal counsel. The incident, which occurred on September 18th, resulted in the death of a neighbor’s small spaniel and prompted an arrest warrant and search warrant for Gibson’s property.
According to authorities, gibson’s dogs attacked the neighbor’s dog approximately half a mile from his home. The injured spaniel was rushed to a veterinary hospital but did not survive, stated Officer Dwyer of the local police department. Following the attack, the dogs were seen on camera at a neighboring property, preventing the owner from accessing their vehicle untill animal control officers intervened.
Gibson initially informed police he would surrender the dogs on September 22nd, but requested additional time when officers arrived, according to a police statement. He subsequently posted a video on Instagram featuring his dogs,followed by a joint statement with his lawyer,Gabe Banks.
Banks stated that Gibson “has fully cooperated with the authorities and will continue to do so until this matter is resolved,” and that his legal team had secured a bond for consent, establishing the terms of his release.
Banks further explained that Gibson acquired the dogs – two adults and three puppies – for protection, citing years of dealing with stalkers. He emphasized the dogs were not “trained to be aggressive” and had no prior history of violence towards people or other animals. “This tragic event is shocking and traumatizing for him and his family, and can only imagine how devastating it has been for the family that lost their pet,” Banks wrote.
Gibson himself expressed his condolences in a statement, saying, “I had no idea that one day I would wake up with this nightmare, and I know that the family should feel in the same way. For them, please know that my heart is broken by you… I am praying for his healing and for his beloved pet, who never deserved this.” He pledged to address the situation “with honesty, responsibility and compassion.”
As of this report,the four dogs involved in the incident have not yet been located. The investigation remains ongoing.
