Munich Drone Alarm: Söder Demands Immediate Action

Söder Calls for Drone Countermeasures following Munich Airport sightings

MUNICH – Bavarian Minister-President Markus Söder (CSU) has⁤ linked recent drone sightings near Munich Airport to a‍ broader pattern of increased aerial surveillance across Europe, signaling a heightened security challenge for Germany and its allies. Söder indicated the ⁢incidents are not isolated events, emphasizing a shifting geopolitical landscape demanding a stronger defensive posture.

The observations⁣ over Munich, coupled with similar reports last week in Schleswig-Holstein-including flights over a Kiel power plant-have prompted investigations into potential threats to critical infrastructure. While stopping short of declaring a state of war, Söder ⁢warned that Germany faces unprecedented security pressures and must bolster its defenses to deter potential adversaries. “We are not quite as peaceful as we were,” he stated during an appearance on WELT TV, part of the Axel Springer network.

Söder acknowledged concerns about escalating tensions but cautioned ⁢against ‌succumbing to panic. He asserted that the observed activity might potentially be‌ intended to provoke anxiety, and stressed‌ the importance⁣ of strengthening Germany’s capabilities to discourage future challenges.Authorities are currently investigating whether the drones were flown⁣ over critical infrastructure, and what the intent of those flights⁢ were.
