Red River Treatment Center Highlights Hope and Healing During National Recovery Month
Fast Parish, LA (September 29, 2025) – red River Treatment Center marked national Recovery Month today with a community event celebrating individuals in recovery and reaffirming its commitment to combating addiction in Central Louisiana. For over 30 years, the center has provided crucial support and resources to those battling substance use disorders.
The event brought together staff, clients, and local leaders to acknowledge progress made and emphasize the possibility of recovery for anyone struggling. Speakers highlighted the importance of a strong community in fostering individual and collective well-being.
“When we have a community, a good healthy community that’s meeting all the needs of the people, we have a better chance of our community growing and being healthy,” stated Dominique Teasley, a speaker at the event.
Board-certified addictionologist Dr. Joan Brunson addressed the ongoing opioid crisis, emphasizing the vital role treatment centers like Red River play in addressing the epidemic. She cited recent statistics from the coroner’s office, reporting 10 overdose deaths this year, seven of which were directly linked to opioids.
Leaders stressed the importance of perseverance throughout the recovery journey. “The t-shirts say we recover and never give up,” said Hunter Perret, chairman of the board. “I think those are the most critically important things.”
Red River Treatment Center staff extended a message of support to those still seeking help,assuring them they are not alone. “Just letting everybody out there know that’s out there on the highways and byways that you can recover,” said Jermaine Mitchell, outreach coordinator for the center. “You can recover from a hopeless state of mind and body.”
While September is designated as National Recovery Month, Red River Treatment Center provides support and treatment year-round.
