‘Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party ⁢of a showgirl’ Nabs‌ $15M in Presales, Tracking for $30M+⁤ Opening weekend

Presales for Taylor‍ Swift’s ⁣concert film, Taylor Swift: The Official Release⁤ Party of a Showgirl, have reached ⁣$15 million, indicating⁢ a⁣ domestic opening weekend of⁢ $30 million or higher. Initial‍ estimates for the top three circuits were around⁣ $37M.‍ The 89-minute film, released by Variance Films in the U.S. and Canada and Piece of Magic Entertainment overseas, will launch in 18 countries including Mexico, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, South Africa, Australia and New⁤ Zealand.

The film includes the ‌exclusive world premiere of Swift’s‍ music video “The Fate of‌ Ophelia,” personal reflections on her new album’s ‍songs,‌ behind-the-scenes footage from the music video shoot,⁤ and brand-new lyric videos. While Showgirl‘s opening‍ is expected to be smaller than‍ Taylor Swift: the Eras Tour, ⁣which capitalized on‍ unmet demand for concert tickets, this release is strategically aligned with the ‌launch⁣ of ⁤Swift’s 12th studio album.‍ Ticket prices are set at $12 plus⁤ tax, a reduction from the $13.13 to $20 ‌range for Eras Tour tickets.

Showgirl will play all 540 ⁢AMC ‌locations, with terms favorable to exhibitors like Regal and Cinemark due to the film’s limited one-weekend ⁢run.Eras Tour reportedly ⁤accounted for around 43% of circuit revenue. The release navigates a crowded ⁣October 3rd release slate, with competition from A24’s The Smashing Machine (projected to open around $20M), 20th Century Studios’ re-release of Avatar: The Way of Water, and Bleecker Street’s⁣ Bone Lake. Competition for premium large format screens is anticipated ⁢between Avatar 2, Showgirl, and Smashing Machine.
