ukrainian air defense forces neutralized 52 attack drones during a widespread russian aerial assault on Saturday night and Sunday morning, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported. The barrage, launched beginning at 9:00 p.m. on September 13th, involved 58 unmanned aerial vehicles, including approximately 25 Shahed drones, Geran-2 drones, and other types of reconnaissance drones.A ballistic missile,identified as an Iskander-M/KN-23,was also part of the attack.
This latest assault underscores Russia’s continued reliance on drone warfare targeting Ukrainian infrastructure and civilian areas. While the majority of the drones were intercepted, impacts from the missile and six drones were recorded in three locations, with debris falling in two additional areas. The accomplished defense highlights the effectiveness of Ukraine’s integrated air defense system, comprised of Air Force units, missile defense units, electronic warfare teams, and mobile fire groups. The ongoing attacks necessitate continued international support for Ukraine’s air defense capabilities as the conflict enters a critical phase.
The drones were launched from multiple directions, including Kursk, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Millerovo in Russia.As of 9:00 a.m.on September 14th, the destruction of 52 Shahed and Geran-2 attack drones had been confirmed across northern, southern, eastern, and central Ukraine.
