Portuguese Army Investigates Death of 24-Year-Old Soldier in Abrantes
Abrantes, Portugal – The Portuguese Army has launched an internal investigation following the death of a 24-year-old soldier stationed at the Emergency Military Support Regiment in Abrantes, Santarém district.The incident occurred early this Saturday morning.

According to an official statement released to Lusa news agency, the Military Judicial Police has been notified and a full investigation is underway to determine the causes and circumstances surrounding the soldier’s death.
the deceased has been identified as a 24-year-old native of Tabuaço, Viseu. First aid was promptly administered on-site by military personnel, and the Instituto Nacional de emergência Médica (INEM – National Institute of Emergency Medical Services) was also called to the scene.
The Army has stated that psychological support is being offered to the soldier’s family and fellow military personnel.
“The Portuguese army profoundly laments this irreparable loss and addresses the mourned family the most felt condolences, manifesting solidarity with all who have shared their life and service with the military,” the Army’s statement concluded.
