‘Married At First Sight‘ Star Lachlan Rofe dies Aged 47
Lachlan Rofe, who appeared on the Australian reality television show Married At First Sight, has died in New South Wales at the age of 47. NSW Police confirmed his death to the NZ Herald on Tuesday, stating officers were called to a property in Razorback, south of Sydney, following reports of a concern for welfare.
Rofe gained public attention during his appearance on the 2018 season of the show, where he was paired with Tamara Joy. Beyond the reality series, Rofe’s life was marked by legal issues and controversial associations. In 2017, he was found guilty of sexually touching a woman without her consent, receiving a 12-month good behavior bond which he later successfully appealed, having the guilty verdict overturned. He stated after the appeal, “Being a man of principle, I chose to clear my name.” he also expressed feeling targeted following the initial ruling, saying, “I’m to scared to even go see women ‘cos I just feel with everything that’s happened, I just feel like I’m a target.”
Rofe’s family property was also the subject of an investigation regarding alleged illegal tree clearing, though the outcome of that investigation was never publicly released by the local council. Rofe claimed at the time that the scrutiny stemmed from jealousy, stating, “Everything has been cleared in line with legislation; peopel are just jealous of me as I’ve got fame.”
He was also linked to Natalie Cepenuik, who gained notoriety in 2017 after an image she posted online depicting a decapitated joey in her mouth sparked widespread outrage and an RSPCA NSW investigation. Cepenuik had written alongside the photo, “I may have deep throated a joey’s neck”, accompanied by laughing and beer emojis.
It is currently unknown whether Rofe was in a relationship at the time of his death.
