Jakarta – Due to capacity constraints at its own facilities, Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has placed Dayang, the son of former East Kalimantan Governor Awang Faroek Ishak, in the Pondok bambu Women’s Detention Center in East Jakarta. The move comes as part of an examination into bribery related to mining business permits (IUP) in east Kalimantan.
The KPK Detention Center is currently operating at full capacity following a series of recent arrests, necessitating the temporary transfer of detainees. “Because of the condition of the detention center in the KPK,which is full due to a number of new suspects who have been detained in the Red and White KPK Detention Center and in the C-1 Detention Center, this is a solution when the KPK Detention center is currently in full condition,” explained KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo on Wednesday,October 9,2025.
Dayang is accused of receiving Rp 3.5 billion from businessman Rudy Ong Chandra in exchange for facilitating the extension of six mining business licenses. Rudy Ong Chandra was previously detained by the KPK on Monday, February 21st. The investigation into former Governor Awang faroek Ishak was halted following his death.
