Video⟩ Woman Woke Up to Find Apartment Burglarized, Police Seek Suspect
A woman named Anastasia awoke to find her apartment had been burglarized, Latvian police report. the incident occurred when a man entered through an unlocked door overnight, stealing 2000 euros, 150 euros worth of collectible coins, and personal documents. Police are currently working to identify and locate the suspect, utilizing a photograph captured by a neighbor’s security camera.Anastasia believes the targeting was likely random. “We also thought that maybe it was intentional,but most likely this was a coincidence,” she stated,adding she posted on Facebook hoping for the return of her documents. “A man from a neighboring entrance – he has a camera on the door – he photographed this person. There is a photo, and everything has already been transferred to the police.”
Security footage shows the suspect attempting to open multiple doors, seemingly checking for unlocked entrances or keys left in the locks. Experts suggest the suspect may have used specialized tools to extract keys if found.In Anastasia’s case, the door was reportedly not locked.
According to police statistics, 968 residential thefts were reported in Latvia last year – the highest number in the past four years. This year, 332 thefts have been registered in the first six months, a decrease of 145 cases compared to the same period in 2023.
