Logan square Residents Targeted in Series of Facebook marketplace Robberies
Chicago Police are alerting Logan Square residents to a string of robberies linked to online Marketplace transactions, with five incidents reported over the past month. The robberies occurred in the 2000 blocks of North Kedzie and North Sawyer avenues, prompting a community-wide warning as police seek information to apprehend the suspects.
The recent surge in thefts highlights the growing risks associated with arranging in-person meetings with strangers through online platforms. Authorities urge caution when buying or selling items via Facebook Marketplace, emphasizing the potential for encounters with individuals intent on criminal activity. Police describe the suspects as two Black men, both between 18 and 25 years old. One suspect has braids, while the other has short hair. Both are described as being between 5-foot-9 and 6 feet tall, and weighing between 145 and 185 pounds.
