Tunisia Launches Cybersecurity Guide for Citizens Amid Rising Online Threats
Tunis, Tunisia – Tunisia has unveiled a new cybersecurity guide for internet users as the North african nation confronts a surge in cybercrime, including a 31% increase in scam reports between 2023 and 2024.The initiative aims to foster a culture of cybersecurity awareness and build a safer digital environment to support the country’s growing digital economy.
According to data cited by Kaspersky, Tunisia and neighboring Libya are experiencing a more sophisticated cybercrime landscape, influenced by both global trends and regional geopolitical factors. Trend Micro data further indicates Tunisia ranks among the top 20 African nations most impacted by ransomware threats in 2024, recording 1232 cases. The guide, promoting the use of technical tools like encryption, is intended to empower citizens to protect themselves online.
The move reflects a broader effort to bolster digital security as Tunisia pursues digital transformation. By increasing cybersecurity literacy among its population, the government hopes to create a more secure and trustworthy digital space, encouraging further progress of its digital economy.
