Big Sean Laughs at Old Lyrics & New Track “See The World

Big Sean Responds to Viral Mockery of Early Lyrics,Releases New Track “See The World”

Detroit rapper Big Sean recently addressed a resurfaced tweet mocking his early lyrical style, responding with humor and demonstrating a shift in viewpoint from his younger years. The exchange occurred on X (formerly twitter) and quickly gained traction, coinciding with the release of his new collaboration, “See The World.”

The initial spark came from a user named mistergetoff, who posted a lyric from a 2010 tweet: “I must have ejaculated vertically, cause I done came up fr.” The tweet, originally posted on January 26, 2010, was met with a response from BattleRapBum, who shared a photo of a younger Big Sean with a speech bubble implying he authored the line. Sean, now 36 years old, responded to the post with three laughing emojis and the phrase, “f*ck y’all,” signaling his ability to laugh off past creative choices.

This self-deprecating response marks a contrast to how Sean might have reacted earlier in his career. Fans have long discussed lyrics from his 2007 mixtape,Finally Famous, specifically referencing the track “I Do It,” which contains the line,”She put that thong on my groin-groin and then it go boing (Boing).” While often criticized, these early works have gained a cult following for their unintentionally humorous quality.

Beyond the viral moment, Sean has been focusing on new music. “See The World,” released on May 17, 2024, features production by Buddah bless, alongside fellow artists Bossman Dlow, a rising star from Florida, and 2 Chainz. The track is described as a lighthearted summer anthem about traveling the world with a notable other. Buddah Bless, born jamal Bless, is a frequent collaborator with Sean, having previously worked on tracks like “Single Again.”

Big Sean, whose real name is Sean Michael Anderson, first gained widespread recognition with his 2011 debut album, Finally Famous, which peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 chart. He has since released four additional studio albums, solidifying his position as a prominent figure in contemporary hip-hop. His ability to acknowledge and embrace past work, even the more questionable moments, demonstrates a level of maturity and self-awareness that resonates with fans.
