IMSA Road America Race results: BMW Dominates, Porsche Finishes Mid-Pack
ELKHART LAKE, WI – August 17, 2025 – BMW team RLL secured a 1-2 finish in the GTP class at the eighth round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship held at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The race, contested on the 4.048-mile, 14-turn Road America circuit, saw intense competition across all classes.
The BMW #24, driven by Philipp Eng (Austria) and Bruno Spengler (Canada), took the GTP victory after completing 66 laps. Teammates Sheldon van der Linde (South Africa) and Marco Wittmann (Germany) in the #25 BMW finished a close second, just 2.524 seconds behind.Acura’s #93, with drivers Jordan van der Zande (Netherlands) and Ross Yelloly (Great Britain), rounded out the GTP podium, finishing 3.628 seconds back.
Porsche’s performance in the GTP class was more subdued. The #6 Porsche 963, shared by Matt Campbell (Australia) and Mathieu Jaminet (france), finished fifth, 15.848 seconds behind the leaders. The #85 Porsche 963, driven by Gianmaria Bruni (Italy) and Laurens van der Helm (Netherlands), finished tenth, +37.098 seconds off the pace. The #7 Porsche 963, piloted by Pipo Nasr (Brazil) and Matt Tandy (Great Britain), completed 1 lap down, finishing 11th.
In the GTD Pro class,BMW again claimed the top spot. The #1 BMW,with drivers Madison Snow (USA) and Bryan Verhamen (USA),secured the win after 62 laps. Philipp Rockenfeller (germany) and Darren Priaulx (great Britain) in the #64 Ford finished second, 2.915 seconds behind. The #77 Porsche 911 GT3 R, driven by Klaus Bachler (Austria) and Dirk Werner (germany), finished eighth, +1:05.657 seconds behind the winning BMW.
