Dua Lipa Awarded Kosovar Citizenship
PRISTINA, Kosovo –
Global music sensation Dua Lipa has officially received Kosovar citizenship, a significant honor from the Balkan nation. The 29-year-old pop star shared her joy and gratitude on instagram following the ceremony.
President Vjosa Osmani presented Lipa with her citizenship certificate in Pristina. Osmani lauded Lipa as a pivotal figure in Kosovo’s cultural and artistic landscape. She emphasized the singer’s ongoing positive impact on the country’s youth, arts scene, and international reputation.
“We have an infinite gratitude for all that Dua has done and continues to do for kosovo, for our youth, for our art and for the international image of our country,” President Osmani stated during the ceremony. “Dua, Kosovo is still proud of you.”
Lipa, born in London to parents of Albanian-Kosovar heritage, spent a formative period of her youth in Kosovo. She resided in the capital, Pristina, from the age of 11 to 15. This was a period following her family’s return to Kosovo in 2008, coinciding with the small Balkan state’s declaration of independence.
