La Familia Dominates in TBT Opener, Showcasing Depth and Unselfishness
La Familia kicked off their TBT campaign with a decisive victory, a performance that highlighted the team’s impressive depth and a commitment to unselfish play. While the team secured a win in their opening game, coach Woods emphasized the positive impact of their bench players and the squad’s overall energy.
“What went well was they got through the first game,” Woods stated.”But, really, what went well was our depth. We had one bad quarter. We went like 1 for 12 from 3. The energy was down a little bit going into the half. But these guys, they’re really appreciative being back and really shocked that this manny people came back to watch them play in a game like this. And, as you saw in the second half, we turned it up a little bit.”
woods expressed optimism for the team’s future performance, adding, “Hopefully it continues to get better and better as we go move forward.”
Beyond Goodwin‘s leading performance, three other La familia players contributed double-digit points: Aaron Harrison with 14, Kahlil Whitney also with 14, and Kerem Kanter with 12.
Goodwin, though, downplayed his individual success, suggesting that any player could step up on any given night.”It just happened to be my night tonight,” he said. “Guys made shots. I was able to get some easy ones going to the rim. So I think that it might very well be anybody’s night. we have that type of talent.”
The primary focus for Goodwin and La Familia is securing a TBT championship. He stressed his willingness to embrace any role necessary for the team’s success, noting that his scoring output didn’t overshadow his playmaking.Goodwin pointed to instances where he opted to pass up layups for open perimeter shots, contributing to his eight assists, just one shy of teammate Marques Warrick’s game-high.
“It’s important,” Goodwin emphasized, “that my teammates know that I’m looking for them every time the ball is in my hands.”
The team’s collective drive is clear, as Goodwin concluded, “I just want to win. And I know that the guys we have, all they care about is winning.”
