New Flagships Push Boundaries in Mobile Photography and Performance
Huawei has launched its Pura 80 series, a lineup of four smartphones boasting significant upgrades to camera technology, processing power, and battery life. The new devices—Pura 80, Pura 80 Pro, and Pura 80 Pro+—aim to redefine the mobile experience, with a fourth, ultra-premium model detailed separately.
Display and Design Innovations
The standard Pura 80 features a compact 6.6-inch LTPO OLED display with a variable refresh rate of 1-120 Hz and a resolution of 2760 × 1256 pixels. The Pro and Pro+ models offer larger 6.8-inch displays with subtle curves on all four edges, both protected by second-generation Kunlun Glass for enhanced durability.
Power and Performance
The Pura 80 packs a 5600 mAh battery supporting 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. The Pro and Pro+ variants step up to a 5700 mAh battery, capable of 100W wired and 80W wireless charging. Pro models also include a USB 3.1 Gen 1 port, while the base Pura 80 utilizes USB 2.0.

While Huawei hasn’t disclosed specific processor details, they confirm the Pro models are 36% faster than their predecessors. Sources indicate the devices are powered by the new Kirin 9020 5G chipset. The Pura 80 and Pura 80 Pro offer configurations with 12GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage, while the Pro+ boasts 16GB of RAM with 512GB or 1TB options.
Camera Capabilities
The Pura 80 features a 50 MP main camera with a variable aperture ranging from F/1.4 to F/4.0 and optical image stabilization (OIS). It’s complemented by a 12 MP 5.5x periscope telephoto lens with OIS, a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 1.5 MP color sensor. The Pro and Pro+ models elevate the camera experience with a 1-inch sensor main camera, also featuring a variable aperture (F/1.6-F/4.0) and OIS. The telephoto lens offers 4x optical zoom with a 48 MP sensor and OIS, while the ultra-wide-angle lens is a 40 MP unit, paired with the 1.5 MP color sensor.

Connectivity and Additional Features
The Pura 80 series introduces advanced satellite communication capabilities, enabling text and photo messaging—currently limited to China. The Pro+ model expands connectivity with support for both Beidou and Tianong satellites, maintaining connection even without direct satellite visibility. Connectivity options include WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and NearLink, Huawei’s alternative to Bluetooth. All models are IP68 and IP69 rated for dust and water resistance, including tolerance to hot water jets.

Pricing and Availability
Pricing for the base Pura 80 model has not yet been announced. The Pura 80 Pro and Pro+ are available for order in China starting today, with the Pro priced at 6,500 yuan (approximately $904 or 315,000 Hungarian Forint) for the 12GB+256GB configuration, and the Pro+ starting at 8,000 yuan ($1,113 or 387,000 Hungarian Forint) for the 12GB+512GB model.
