Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to continue his mission
to bring hostages held by Hamas back to Israel, both living adn dead.
Truce Proposal and Denials
Amid the intensified Israeli offensive, a Hamas source indicated that the Islamist group had accepted a new truce proposal. The proposal, reportedly presented by U.S. emissary Steve Witkoff, involved the exchange of remaining hostages and a cessation of hostilities. However, a spokesperson for Witkoff denied the claim.
School Bombing Details
Gaza’s civil defense reported that at least 33 people died and more than 50 were injured in the bombing of the Fahmi al-Jarjawi school in Gaza City.
Mustafa hassan Mahmoud Radwan,an elderly man who fled from Beit Lahia (North),sought refuge with his family near the school after being displaced. I fled from death and found an even worse,
he lamented.
The Israeli army stated that high profile terrorists
were present in the school and that it took numerous measures to mitigate the risk for civilians.
However, the army did not identify the alleged combatants nor address the civilian casualties.
Othre Incidents
In Jabaliya, north of the Gaza Strip, 19 people died in a bombardment that struck a family home. Rescue teams discovered Ward Jalal Al Shiek Jalil alive amidst the rubble. The girl survived the attack that killed her mother and six siblings.
In a video broadcast by Al Jazeera, rescuers asked her, Were there anyone else?
after pulling her from under a slab covered in calcined remains. She was awake and conscious.
The israeli army also reported detecting three projectiles launched from Gaza, one of which was intercepted.This occurred during Jerusalem Day celebrations, commemorating the reunification
of the city after the 1967 occupation of its eastern sector.
Hamas’s Response
Hamas accused israel of perpetrating a horrible massacre
with the bombing of the school. The occupation continues its massacres against civilians in Gaza and tries to cover up their crimes with evasive and false statements,
the group stated.
Netanyahu’s Resolve
Israel resumed its offensive on Gaza in March after a two-month truce ended. In May, attacks intensified with the stated goal of destroying Hamas and freeing the remaining hostages.
