In Hamilton, New York, the Colgate University Raiders are celebrating their women’s lacrosse team’s achievements. Four players have been recognized wiht All-Patriot League honors, a significant achievement for the team. This award highlights the consistent performance and leadership within the lacrosse program, spearheaded by senior Lucy Licata, among others. Colgate Raiders Celebrate All-patriot League Honors: Four Athletes recognized
Hamilton, N.Y. – The Colgate Raiders are celebrating a significant achievement, with four of their women’s lacrosse players earning All-Patriot League honors. This recognition, announced Monday, marks the highest number of selections for the Raiders since 2019, signaling a resurgence for the program.
First Team Recognition: Lucy Licata Leads the Way
Senior Lucy Licata has been named to the First Team All-Patriot League, a distinction she earned through consistent performance and leadership on the field. Licata’s selection is particularly noteworthy as she is the first Raider to achieve First Team honors since 2018. This marks her second All-Patriot League selection, solidifying her impact on the team.
Licata started every game this season, contributing 30 goals and five assists. However, her dominance in draw controls truly set her apart. She secured a program record of 163 draw controls this season and concluded her career with 258, the second-most in program history.
Second Team Standouts: McMahon, Kniffin, and Panzirer Honored
Three additional Raiders earned spots on the All-Patriot League Second Team, showcasing the depth of talent within the Colgate program:
- aubrey McMahon: As a first-year player, Aubrey McMahon made an immediate impact, becoming the team’s second-leading goalscorer with 36 goals and adding 15 assists. Her outstanding performance earned her Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors on March 3, following back-to-back hat tricks against Le Moyne and UAlbany.
- nelle Kniffin: Senior defender Nelle Kniffin earned her first all-conference selection after leading Colgate in ground balls (30) and caused turnovers (24). Kniffin’s defensive prowess ranked her ninth in the conference in caused turnovers per game, with 1.41.
- Caroline Panzirer: Junior attacker Caroline panzirer also secured a spot on the Second team after leading the Raiders in goals (43), assists (25), and points (68). Panzirer’s offensive contributions were pivotal to the team’s success.
Panzirer’s Viewpoint: A Season of Growth
Panzirer’s standout season has propelled her towards significant milestones. She has surpassed the 100-point mark and is now just five goals away from joining the 100-goal club. Her performance this year has placed her among the top players in the Patriot League, ranking seventh in goals per game and fourth in assists per game.
