The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (KPPPA) confirmed that two individuals have filed reports concerning alleged sexual harassment perpetrated by an obstetrician in Garut, West Java.

Before the current case gained widespread attention, there were indications that similar incidents had occurred previously. One such event caused significant unrest, though it was ultimately resolved without formal charges.
According to reports, a patient’s husband confronted the alleged perpetrator physically.

Police Investigation and Arrest
Following the emergence of a viral video depicting the alleged harassment,police apprehended Muhammad Syafril Firdaus. The video purportedly shows inappropriate conduct during ultrasound examinations.
AKP Joko prihatin, Head of Garut Police Criminal Investigation Unit, confirmed that two victims had filed reports. Mr. Firdaus remains under investigation.

- June 2024: Alleged harassment occurred while Syafril Firdaus was practicing at a clinic in Garut.
- December 2024: syafril Firdaus ceased practicing in the garut region.
- April 2025: Arrest of Syafril Firdaus after video surfaces.
Official Actions and Support
The Garut Regency Health Office convened an online meeting with the Ministry of Health to address the situation. As a result, Syafril Firdaus’s practice license (SIP) has been officially revoked.
Given the potential for additional victims,LBH Padjadjaran has established a complaint post to provide support and receive reports.

AKBP Mochamad Fajar, Garut Police Chief, addressed the situation, emphasizing the commitment to pursue justice.
