President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported this Tuesday that he is planning an upcoming meeting with officials from the government of his American counterpart, Joe Biden.
López Obrador pointed out in his morning press conference that Amos J. Hochstein, special presidential coordinator for Global Infrastructure and Energy Security of the United States government, will participate in the meeting, which is expected to take place next week.
The president added in the National Palace that Hochstein has expressed to him in previous meetings his government’s interest in two development and investment projects in Mexico: the Transisthmian corridor, which connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific, and in the extraction of copper in Sonora. for the electric car industry.
Asked about development projects in Sonora, the man from Tabasco said that there is a lot of potential in the region and trusted that large projects to bring water to the area will be viable in the future.
However, he said that he is in favor of developing areas of the country where the liquid is abundant, rather than making costly investments to bring water to regions where there is a shortage.
