Meta is expanding the capabilities of its AI assistant within WhatsApp. According to recent beta testing reports, users will soon be able to interact with the Meta AI using voice commands. This functionality allows users to communicate with the chatbot in real-time, moving beyond text-based prompts. The integration follows Meta’s broader push to embed its proprietary AI models across its suite of applications, including Instagram and Facebook. While the feature is currently being refined, it is designed to facilitate hands-free assistance for drafting messages and retrieving information.
Enhanced Profile Privacy Controls
The platform is also developing a tool to prevent unauthorized users from saving profile pictures. Account Security and Third-Party Interoperability
Meta continues to work on technical requirements for third-party chat interoperability, a mandate stemming from the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). The company is currently engaged in ongoing consultations with EU regulators regarding the security protocols necessary to allow encrypted messages from outside applications to reach WhatsApp users.
