zelensky Vows to Fight for Ukraine‘s Dignity as U.S. Plan Raises Concerns
Kyiv, Ukraine – President Volodymyr Zelensky warned Friday that Ukraine faces “one of the most difficult moments in our history” as a potential U.S. plan to facilitate an end to the war with Russia threatens to undermine Ukrainian sovereignty. Zelensky stated Ukraine could be forced to choose between ”the loss of dignity or the risk of losing a key partner,” referencing the proposed American approach.
Zelensky addressed the nation in a video message, promising to actively challenge the U.S. plan, which he characterized as overly favorable to Moscow. “I will present arguments,I will persuade,I will propose alternatives,” he declared, emphasizing his commitment to not “betray” Ukrainian interests.
The Ukrainian president affirmed that his officials will work “as long as it takes, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week” to refine the American proposal and ensure it safeguards ”the dignity and freedom of ukrainians.” He stressed that ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, land, people, and future are all at stake.
Zelensky also highlighted the crucial support of Ukraine’s European allies, asserting that Ukraine serves as “the only shield separating comfortable European life from [Putin’s] plans of aggression.” The situation underscores the escalating pressure on Ukraine as international efforts to resolve the conflict gain momentum, and Kyiv seeks to maintain its position in negotiations.
