Comedian and recording artist Yuriyan Retriever has expressed her excitement about her debut as a solo artist, drawing parallels between her music and the stylistic shifts found in Quentin Tarantino’s film Kill Bill.
On her debut as a solo recording artist:
Retriever conveyed a sense of disbelief about her new career path, thanking Universal Music Group for supporting her ambition to become an artist akin to Ariana Grande.
Currently based in Los Angeles, Retriever stated her aspiration to perform at Coachella. She envisions her artistic identity as a multifaceted “circus” or a “one-woman art collective,” encompassing more than just comedy or rapping, aiming to be a source of entertainment and fun.
Regarding future music releases:
Referencing North West’s Japanese rap performance, Retriever suggested that the japanese language could become a trend. While open to releasing English songs in the future, she hopes her current Japanese-language debut will encourage listeners to engage with the language, even if they don’t fully understand it,finding it appealing due to its perceived cuteness and interesting nature, coupled with the song’s enjoyable and cool qualities.
On her self-perception:
retriever humorously described herself as “more than a handful.”
