Yahoo Serious Ousted from Beachfront Property
Actor Faces Homelessness After Monthslong Standoff
Australian actor Yahoo Serious has been forcibly removed from a luxury Palm Beach residence after a prolonged dispute. The eviction brings an end to a months-long deadlock that saw the star refuse to vacate the property.
Landlord Declares Victory
The landlord, Margie Charlton, who holds power of attorney for the elderly, dementia-suffering owner Charles Phillip Porter, confirmed Serious’s departure. “He’s out!”
Charlton exclaimed to reporters on Wednesday. “We kicked him out.”
Serious was legally ordered to leave the Barrenjoey Road property on August 4 but remained until the following day, when Charlton confronted him directly.
The confrontation reportedly escalated, with Serious calling the police and accusing Charlton of violence. Officers on the scene reportedly informed Serious that he had to leave. After the police intervention, Serious departed with his Jack Russell terrier, Jingle.
Trail of Destruction Alleged
Charlton stated that the property was left in a deplorable condition. “He has left the house in a filthy state. There is rotting food, it’s disgusting,”
she said. An extensive clean-up operation, involving numerous friends, reportedly removed six truckloads of rubbish from the residence in the 24 hours following Serious’s eviction. The lengthy legal battles and confrontations have taken a toll on Charlton, who expressed relief that the ordeal was concluded. She revealed in July that selling the property was crucial to cover Mr. Porter’s mounting nursing home fees, which had reached $70,000.

Previous Confrontations and Claims
The situation had been building for some time. Earlier in the week, Charlton confronted Serious on camera with a journalist from A Current Affair, but he still refused to leave, claiming he was merely “surviving” and that the weather was dangerous. He had previously asserted that he was not squatting, but was “sick” with lymphoma and had been caring for Mr. Porter. Charlton, however, disputes this, stating she was the primary caregiver for Mr. Porter, managing his daily needs and household responsibilities.

The NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal had previously granted Serious an extension to vacate the premises, initially set for six weeks in March, with his lawyer citing his illness. The tribunal heard that Serious had been allowed to live in the property’s granny flat after initially living rough in his car, eventually moving into the main house when Mr. Porter went into care.
Star’s Fall from Grace
Yahoo Serious, known for his starring roles in 1988’s “Young Einstein” and 1993’s “Reckless Kelly,” experienced a significant career decline. He was taken in by Mr. Porter and Charlton several years ago, reportedly after falling on hard times. His current circumstances have drawn concern, with reports of him now effectively homeless, relying on his aging BMW for shelter. The average rent for a property in Palm Beach, Sydney, can exceed AUD $3,000 per week, highlighting the stark contrast with Serious’s current situation.

The property is now slated for sale to help fund Mr. Porter’s ongoing care needs, a process that was significantly delayed by Serious’s occupation.
