Xiaomi 17 Ultra to Launch in Two Variants, Including Satellite Communication Capabilities
BEIJING – Xiaomi is preparing to release the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in two versions, with the higher-end model featuring both tiantong satellite calling and Beidou satellite short messaging capabilities, according to information from Digital Chat Station (DCS). This dual-satellite communication feature aims to provide connectivity in remote areas lacking traditional cellular networks, enabling users to maintain contact even in challenging environments like deserts or offshore locations.
DCS indicates both phones will support Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is anticipated to boast a large circular rear camera module and a 6.8-inch flat OLED screen with a 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 elite Gen 5 chipset and is rumored to include wireless charging, IP68 water resistance, and a high-capacity battery from Xiaomi Jinsha River.
Camera specifications are expected to be a key feature, with a 50 MP primary sensor utilizing improved large sensor and in-sensor zoom technology, alongside a 200 MP periscope telephoto lens supporting multiple focal lengths and macro photography. Xiaomi claims these lenses will deliver enhanced dynamic range and clarity across various lighting conditions.
The phone is expected to be available in black, white, and purple, possibly launching before China’s Spring Festival. Pricing is projected to begin around 6,000 Yuan (approximately IDR 14 million) for the standard model.
