Xiaomi 17 Pro Max Arrives wiht Rear Display, iOS-Inspired Software
Beijing, China – Xiaomi’s latest flagship, the 17 Pro Max, is now in hand, boasting a unique rear display and a redesigned software experience. While currently only available in China, the device signals Xiaomi’s continued push for innovation in the premium smartphone market and offers a glimpse into potential features for a forthcoming global release expected in a couple of months.
The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max promptly distinguishes itself with a 120 Hz LTPO OLED rear screen, peaking at 3,500 nits of brightness. Though currently limited to Chinese third-party apps, Xiaomi intends the screen primarily as a viewfinder for the triple camera system, enabling high-quality main camera selfies – a feature previously lauded on the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. The phone also features a 6.9-inch 120Hz front display with a pill-shaped notch, offering more screen real estate than some competitors.
The device runs HyperOS 3,based on Android 16,and adopts a new design aesthetic reminiscent of iOS 26,characterized by a colorful interface and transparent UI elements. It features a flat glass front and ships with a 100W charger and a USB-A to USB-C cable.
Initial impressions highlight an excellent display, though it lacks anti-reflective glass. A full review is underway to thoroughly assess the phone’s performance and capabilities while awaiting news on a global launch date from Xiaomi.
