Wyatt Hendrickson Wins Bronze at Senior World Championships

Wyatt Hendrickson Wins Bronze at Senior World Championships

November 1, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Former Oklahoma State wrestler Wyatt Hendrickson earned a bronze medal in the 125-kilogram division at the Senior World Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan, winning four of his five matches by technical fall, according to ocolly.com reporting.

Opening Bracket Performance Versus Semifinal Exit

Entering the tournament as the No. 20 seed, Hendrickson opened competition Friday by defeating No. 3 Shamil Sharapov of Bahrain 11-0 in 33 seconds. He followed with two more technical falls against China’s Buheeerdun and Germany’s Mohsen Siyar, outscoring his first three opponents 34-3 in 4:48. That early momentum met a roadblock in the semifinals against second-seeded Amir Zare. The former world champion and Olympic medalist from Iran defeated Hendrickson 10-0 in 3:49.

Hendrickson Wins Bronze for Oklahoma State

Hendrickson rebounded in Saturday morning’s bronze-medal match against Indian wrestler Singh Jaspooran. He secured the first takedown and added four consecutive rolls to win 10-0 in 27 seconds. The finish marks Oklahoma State’s first Senior World Championships medal since Daton Fix earned silver at the 2021 World Championships in Oslo, Norway, and improves upon Hendrickson’s 0-1 debut at last year’s senior world stage in Zagreb, Croatia.
